It’s been more than a month since I posted something on this
little blog/e-diary of mine. And today, I have decided to update it in time for what
has been happening for the past days.
I was frustrated with my cab ride going to work this morning. It was
really unfortunate that some taxi driver would have to lure their passengers for a promised faster route but ending up in a heavy traffic just to keep the fare meter
running. But what frustrates me even more was the radio station that we’re
tuned in. Apparently, these two radio personnel were talking about the Gilas
Pilipinas, mind you; it was the morning after Gilas defeated Lebanon to advance in
the semis of the FIBA ASIA 2015.
The traffic was insane (as always!) that made me listen to
their discussion. I was listening attentively, that I can still remember how the “analyst”
pronounced Andray’s full name, “Andray Maurice Blat-che”. Yes, he said "Blat-che.", to my irritation, I
kind of loudly said “BLATCHE!” to correct him (as if he can hear me).
From that
point, it gave me an impression that this “analyst” wasn’t really into what he was talking about. For basketball god’s sake, almost everyone knew that he is
Andray Blatche, and not Blat-che. But that didn't stop there. To my surprise, the “anchor” mentioned
the seems unending "lack of JMF" that could help Dray, I was a bit furious already at this point
and starting to curse them in my mind while ranting on my twitter account:
While I know they have a point on that one, JMF is JMF, I also know for a fact that at this moment that "issue" should be a closed case already. Goodness, gracious! We're already at the semi-finals, Dray had shut the mouths of these Chinese people who cheered for Lebanon. Gilas have already won over Iran. The Giant Hamed Haddadi has been Abueva-fied, Terrence Romeo's golden hair have already grown and needed re-rooting just like all his "bastos move" victims needed retreat after being demoralized. My point was, we should have moved on from "that" already in respect to everyone who's playing their hearts in China.
Respect to those who never had second thoughts, respect to those who made themselves available, respect to those who stood up on their principles whatever it takes, respect to those who left their pregnant wives and longing kids just to serve the country. I mean, come on, these gentlemen have been ridiculed, questioned and doubted already at the very moment that their names were listed on the pool. And these guys have been working their asses off since Day 1. They keep at it day in and day out. Enough of the qualms, these guys have proven us worthy of our full trust and support only by their willingness to play for our country when everyone else was uncertain.
As I was having these thoughts in my mind, I honestly don't know how the conversation went to the naturalization of Andray. Yes, I think Dray was their favorite that they kind of questioned why we have to naturalize players. Now this thought pushed the button.
WHAT WAS IN YOUR MINDS THAT YOU ARE STILL QUESTIONING ANDRAY BLATCHE AT THIS VERY MOMENT OF TIME? REALLY??
WHY IS IT STILL A BIG DEAL THAT HE IS AN AMERICAN SO AS SOME MEMBERS OF THE COACHING STAFF LIKE COACH TAB AND COACH ALEX??!!
Let me calm myself and use our own language here, utang na loob na lang! Kahit Americano yan si Dray, si Coach Tab at Si Coach Alex pupusta ko, mas Pilipino pa puso niyan kesa sa inyong dalawa. Sige nga, let me ask you sirs, what have you done for our country?
These "Americans"that you are saying are giving their all, sacrificing for our Country!
Ang akin lang naman mga ser, before you question, by all means check what these guys are doing. While I respect that the above matters were your opinions, we should also have to learn to give credit when its due! And clearly, these guys deserves it. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
